Chris Hopper’s Hall of Fame Candidacy Reportedly Put on Hold Amid Online Controversy

Former United Toughness Alliance Champion Chris Hopper was said to be in early discussions for next year’s Hall of Fame class. However, according to multiple sources, those talks have been quietly shelved following recent activity on social media.

Hopper, standing 6’9” and weighing 287 lbs, had once been a central figure in UTA’s heavyweight division. While he has long since hung up his boots, the former champion reinvented himself in recent years as an online streamer. But recent developments may be hurting that second career just as much as they’ve derailed his potential Hall of Fame nod.

The controversy stems from a series of replies Hopper made on X (formerly Twitter) that have been widely circulated and criticized for their negative and offensive tone toward LGBTQ-related posts. These comments have reportedly not only soured public opinion but also led to a noticeable dip in his streaming audience numbers.

One source close to UTA leadership stated, “Hopper was a name on the short list for induction, but the optics aren’t good right now. Until there’s clarity or accountability, it’s not a situation officials want attached to the Hall of Fame.”

While UTA has not made any official statements regarding Hopper’s candidacy, insiders suggest his name has been “taken off the table for now” as officials monitor the fallout. Whether this is a temporary pause or a permanent decision remains to be seen.

For now, Chris Hopper finds himself not in the spotlight for his past accomplishments, but rather in the middle of a firestorm of his own making.
