Is Universal Studios Pulling the Plug on IN THE ZONE?
Posted on July 14, 2025 by Rumor Man Stan in RumorsRumors are swirling around the Orlando scene as reports emerge suggesting Universal Studios may not renew its temporary contract with the United Toughness Alliance for the production of WrestleUTA: Orlando's weekly flagship, IN THE ZONE.
The initial agreement between Universal and the UTA was reportedly a short-term trial, running only through August 1st, with the goal of gauging both fan engagement and foot traffic at the theme park-adjacent WrestleZone venue. However, inside sources are now suggesting that Universal Studios executives are "less than thrilled" with the level of guest turnout for the weekly tapings.
While nothing has been officially confirmed, murmurs from within the UTA camp indicate that Universal's hesitation stems from underwhelming attendance figures, particularly for mid-week shows. Though the talent has delivered consistently high-energy performances and compelling storylines, it may not have been enough to meet the expectations of Universal’s bottom line.
If the deal does fall through, it's not all doom and gloom for WrestleUTA: Orlando. Sources close to the situation suggest the UTA Performance Center—which has been used for training, production, and closed-door events—would remain in operation. Additionally, the WrestleZone itself may still host the occasional special event, but IN THE ZONE would need to find a new home to continue airing weekly.
All eyes now turn to Rumble at the WrestleZone, airing July 25th, which is being viewed as a make-or-break event for the brand’s current residency. A strong turnout and buzz from that show could potentially tip the scales in UTA's favor and earn the extension they need.
Until then, the future of IN THE ZONE at Universal Studios hangs in the balance—leaving fans, talent, and industry insiders alike holding their breath. Stay tuned.
