The briefcase is not the prize

[FADE IN]
The frame hums with quiet intensity. The screen blooms slowly into monochrome. Jarvis Valentine is seated, composed, draped in silence like armor. His eyes hold no nervousness — only knowing.
INTERVIEWER (V.O.):
“Jarvis, WrestleUTA: 25 is just days away. The Ace in the Hole match is loaded with legends, monsters, and former champions. How do you plan to survive it?”
[CAMERA: LOCKED ON JARVIS]
He breathes in — slow. Not a man preparing for battle, but one unveiling inevitability.
JARVIS VALENTINE:
“I’m not preparing to survive it.
I’m preparing to define it.”
He lets that hang. The pause is surgical.
“Every other man walking into that match is fighting for momentum, clout, maybe even legacy.
Me?”
He leans forward slightly. Voice even lower now — each word intentional.
“I’m walking in with a message.
And I’m leaving with the key.”
INTERVIEWER (V.O.):
“The briefcase?”
JARVIS:
“No.
Not just a briefcase.
A mechanism. A permission slip. A trigger.”
Another long pause.
“They think it’s a shortcut to gold. But that briefcase?
It’s the final piece of a design that’s been unfolding for months.
And when I climb that ladder and pull it down… the lie breaks.
The illusion dies.
And everything changes.”
INTERVIEWER (V.O.):
“There’s no guarantee you’ll even make it through the chaos.”
JARVIS:
“That’s what they hope.
But hope’s a drug.
I don’t use it
He finally looks directly into the camera. For a second, it doesn’t feel like he’s speaking to the audience — it feels like he’s speaking to you.
JARVIS:
“I didn’t come this far to hope. I came to reveal.”
INTERVIEWER (V.O.):
“And what happens if you win?”
A rare, almost imperceptible smirk flickers.
JARVIS:
“If?”
He shakes his head.
“No.
When I win…
That signal they’ve been trying to jam finally gets through.
The broadcast goes live.
The Architects hear me.”
He stands slowly, chair scraping back just out of frame.
The interview is over, but his voice lingers as the shot fades to black.
> “The Ace is in the hole.
The briefcase .is loaded.
And I am the fire you can't unlight.”
