DETONATION
This week, the stream on the Girl Power Wrestling website becomes available an hour or so earlier than usual. Intrigued viewers who click on the video rectangle, however, are greeted not with the usual rocking chords of 'Bad Reputation', but with a graphic of a long cord slowly being consumed by a spark. This is eventually revealed to be attached to a device labelled 'TNT', which it approaches with alarming rapidity. Once it reaches the box in question, however, the only visible effect is a lowering of its handle, which is accompanied by a 'click'. On the box itself, the letters 'TNT' are then replaced with another word:
DETONATION
From here, we cut to a studio setting, where we are greeted by a rather nervous-looking Alexandra Roxbury. The GPW jack-of-all-trades, who is already responsible for backstage interviews and ring announcing, seems to be on trial in a new position, as she is seen sitting behind a news-type desk, in front of what is clearly a green screen. As the stream opens, the redhead - who is clad in a fitted blazer and white blouse - hesitantly greets the viewers:
Alexandra Roxbury: Um...good evening, everyone. I'm Roxy Roxbury, and welcome to the first ever edition of Detonation!
The attractive staffer flashes a timid grin, after which she quickly continues:
Roxy: On this GPW.com exclusive, we will bring you first-hand coverage of the warm-up matches on each episode of Explosion. Some of the most exciting up-and-coming superstars in our company compete in these matches, and this is your chance to see what they are capable of from the comfort of your own home!
Roxy's tone becomes more and more self-assured as she progresses in her spiel, until by the end of it she is giving viewers at home a much more self-assured - and rather charming - smile:
Roxy: Let's take you now to the first of those matches, a three-on-three bout opposing the team of Sabrina Baker, Casey Faith and Jada Montana to the team of Jade Justice, Constance Chapin and Ella del Rey.
Six-Woman Tag: Sabrina Baker, Jada Montana & Casey Faith v Jade Justice, Constance Chapin & Ella Del Rey
The screen behind Roxy begins to display footage of that match already under way. After a moment, the image becomes full-screen, Roxy's commentary super-imposed over it:
Roxy: Half of these women were having their debut here at GPW, and they gave very good account of themselves. You see here Jada Montana applying a powerslam to Jade Justice, followed by a series of elbow drops, until Jade rolls out of the way.
Jade Justice is shown tagging in Constance Chapin, as on the other side Jada Montana just about manages to slap the hand of Sabrina Baker.
Roxy: This match also saw quite a heated exchange between Constance Chapin and Sabrina Baker. You can see them here trying to out-manouevre each other...
The two women are shown having a fast technical sequence, with Sabrina being caught in a wristlock and reversing it to an Irish whip, sending Constance to the far turnbuckle. Sabrina takes off in a handspring back elbow, but Constance dodges and locks her arms around her opponent, throwing her overhead in a German suplex. Sabrina manages to scramble to her feet quickly from the throw, and welcomes an onrushing Constance with a spear, leading to a two-count! As Constance recovers from the impactful move, Sabrina tags in Casey Faith. Roxy continues to commentate all throughout:
Roxy: Another superstar fans were very curious about was Casey Faith, who you can see here trying to apply her finisher, the Dreamcatcher, on Constance...but as you can see, Constance shook her off and tagged in yet another rookie, Ella del Rey. Very little was known about this wrestler prior to this match, but she impressed the fans here at the Firehouse as well. You can see her here landing a sidewalk slam on Casey, but the move only got two!
Ella del Rey continues in the ring after the move, and begins trying to apply her submission move, the Sweet Dreams, on Casey. The plucky rookie shakes her off with a desperation dropkick and leaps across to tag in Jada Montana once again. The mob heir immediately goes up top and dives off in a swanton bomb, but it gets reversed by Ella into a spinning backbreaker! A cover follows, but once again it leads to only a two-count. Ella remains in control afterwards, picking Jada up, throwing her to her team's turnbuckle, and connecting with a huge running big boot! Before she can cover again, however, Jade Justice tags herself in, much to the rookie's annoyance.
Roxy: Jade Justice had her last match in GPW here tonight. You can see her here stomping Jada in the corner and applying headbutts...but eventually Jada managed to dodge and run across to tag in Sabrina Baker, who ended up winning the match for her team. You see her here landing her handspring moonsault, The Remix 2, and getting the three-count for her team.
On screen, the referee counts the three, giving the team of Sabrina, Jada and Casey the win. Constance Chapin arrives just a second too late to break up the pin, and takes her frustrations on both Jade, who she punishes with stomps, and Sabrina, with whom she exchanges heated words. The referee is at hand to see that the two women do not come to blows, and eventually escorts five of the six participants out of the ring, as EMTs come down to check on Jade Justice, who seems to be feeling her team-mate's stomps.
WINNERS by pinfall: Sabrina Baker, Jada Montana and Casey Faith
As the last few moments of the match play out, the feed returns to Roxy and her desk, as the young redhead fills us in on what would have been the second warm-up match, a 2-on-1 handicap between former Gladiator Toriana and the team of Molly Cyrus and Tammy Tits, Tits'n'Ass.
2-on-1 Handicap Match: Toriana v Tits'n'Ass
Roxy: And ladies and gentlemen, also scheduled for this evening's warm-up period was a handicap match between another new signing, Toriana, and the team that Ms. LaTour and Ms. Buckingham would refer to as Those Creatures, Tits'n'Ass. However, that match ended up not happening, since neither Toriana nor Tammy Tits were present at bell time. Molly Cyrus was the only one of the three women to come down to ringside, and after the contest got called off, she had a few words about it.
The feed cuts to the ringside area, where Molly Cyrus, sporting her new clean-cut look, is seen standing in the centre of the canvas holding a microphone. Reactions to the young Southerner are surprisingly mixed, considering her recent past, and the crowd even respects Molly enough to quiet down as she begins to talk:
Molly Cyrus: Figures, don't it? I make the goddamn effort to come down here for my match, an' it turns out nobody else did. I'm seriously gettin' tired of this shit!
The former blonde's tone, which had up until this point been aggressive and ranty, becomes more apologetic - and maybe a bit disillusioned - as she addresses the crowd directly:
Molly Cyrus: Sorry, guys...maybe next time.
Then - under a surprising amount of applause - she begins to make her way backstage, throwing her hands up in frustration even as she hangs her head in disappointment.
WINNER: No-contest
Molly is just brushing the curtain aside when the transmission cuts back to Roxy, who is now flashing her most winning smile, and clearly much more at ease than before:
Roxy: We are sorry too, as we were very curious to see what Toriana had to offer. I guess it's as Molly said - we'll have to wait for next time! Until then, this has been GPW Detonation, I've been Roxy Roxbury, and I will see you in a few moments, as we kick off the live portion of GPW Explosion 14. Make sure to join us then!
Another brief but charming grin broaches the redhead's crimson-painted lips as the camera begins to pull away as the lights dim to black. A Girl Power Wrestling logo and some copyright information close out this part of the feed.
