THE LEAGUE: WEEK SIX
The camera cuts to the interior of the John Labatt Centre as the requisite pyro and other such explosions threaten to ruin the future hearing of the 10,014 in attendance. As the lights come back up, the shot cuts to ringside and our usual two-man crew.

Bob Sinclair: Good evening, everyone, and welcome to week six of The League! Bob Sinclair, sitting at ringside like always, and joined once again by my broadcast colleague, Frankie Garnett. Frankie, tonight looks to be a very interesting night in the ring.

Frankie Garnett: Considering we're leaving Ontario with someone getting their first loss, I agree wholeheartedly.

Bob Sinclair: Uh, Frankie? Phoenix and Sean aren't wrestling each other tonight.

Frankie Garnett: I know that. Maynard is going to destroy Phoenix; I have it on good authority!

Bob Sinclair: Frankie, the Magic 8-Ball is hardly an authority.

Frankie Garnett: You leave my sources alone!

Bob Sinclair: ...anyway, let's head to the ring to get the week underway!

Nuclear Templeton (3-2) vs. Super Century (2-3)
(Fans' Pick: Templeton, 9 – 3 (75.0%))
Without warning, all of the lights go off in the arena, casting everything into pitch blackness. A few seconds pass before a spotlight shines on one of the turnbuckles, revealing no one there. This is repeated with all four turnbuckles, each revealing no one there. Finally, one last spotlight shines down onto the middle of the ring, which reveals the caped form of The League's resident superhero, who stands with arms folded and staring intently into the audience.

Amelia Williams: This is our opening contest, and it is scheduled for one fall! Already in the ring, from the Halls of Justice, weighing 205 pounds...Super Century!

Frankie Garnett: Bob, can you PLEASE explain why we let schmucks like this run around with masks on? This is why society has fallen into such chaos!

Bob Sinclair: That was totally uncalled for. What has he done to you?

Frankie Garnett: Offend my fashion sense!

Bob Sinclair: I had to ask....

Billy Idol's "Shock to the System" hits the speakers, bringing the crowd to their feet in ovation as one of the League's more recognizable faces emerges from backstage and across the green-tinted stage. As he hits the end of the entrance ramp, he throws his arms into the air, sending a pair of mushroom clouds into the air from the stage as he makes his way to the ring and through the ropes.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Atlantic City, New Jersey, weighing 278 pounds...Nuclear Templeton!

Bob Sinclair: Templeton comes in tonight, as he has for most of the season, as the Alpha Division leader; you have to imagine he's ready to fight tonight, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: Bob, his career record coming in is 11-8. He's tied with Robbie Maynard at that mark, and only one active member has a better record in League competition. The man is ALWAYS looking for a fight!

Bob Sinclair: And with that, Templeton ensures that he will walk away from Ontario with the best record in the Alpha Division once again.

Frankie Garnett: More importantly, it means he beat the supposed "super powers" out of Super Century!

Bob Sinclair: ...why are you ragging on the guy, Frankie?

Frankie Garnett: He hides behind a mask because he's to embarrassed to show his face on national television! That's reason enough!

Bob Sinclair: Then what about El Demonio?

Frankie Garnett: You kidding? That mask gives me nightmares! I'm not about to say that to him!

Bob Sinclair: Oh, brother....

[b]Thor Hammerskald (1-4) vs. Scott Stevens (3-2)[b]
(Fans' pick: Stevens, 7 – 5 (58.3%))

Amon Amarth's "Death in Fire" hits the speakers, to a decent ovation as the League rookie emerges from backstage, looking every bit the part of a Viking warrior as he strides to the ring with a determined look on his face.

Amelia Williams: Our next contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Oslo, Norway, weighing 310 pounds...Thor Hammerskald!

Bob Sinclair: Hammerskald's had a rough go of it so far this season, only notching one win in five attempts. Luck just hasn't been with him so far.

Frankie Garnett: Luck, schmuck. Face it, anyone weighing over 300 pounds does terrible in The League.

Bob Sinclair: And yet the heaviest man in here is undefeated this season.

The lights in the arena go pitch black, as red lasers and spotlights light up the area. The video screen lights up and flashes across the screen, "Nothing survives my sting!" Over the audio system a snippet of Dave Mustaine from the song "Scorpion" yells, "I am the Scorpion whoah!!!" This causes the crowd to start booing as a mash up of "I Stand Alone" by Godsmack and "Amazing" by Kanye West hits the speakers, and the man in question walks to the ring, talking trash the whole way.
Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Houston, Texas, weighing 265 pounds..."The Scorpion" Scott Stevens!

Frankie Garnett: That's because no one is listening to the true star of The League and his statements that Phoenix is obviously cheating!

Bob Sinclair: Frankie, the only people who believe that are you and Stevens. Phoenix has voluntarily submitted to tests after each show, and they've all come back clean. The evidence is against you.

Ly Quang Bao (2-3) vs. Diamond (3-2)
(Fans' Pick: Diamond, 9 – 3 (75.0%))
Psykosonik's "Panik Kontrol" echoes throughout the arena as our next participant emerges, nearly hidden in a cloud of red smoke. As the beat continues, he sprints down the aisle, leaping onto the apron and somersaulting over the top rope, coming to a halt in the middle of the ring and looking ready to fight as the song fades.

Amelia Williams: Our next bout is scheduled for one fall! In the ring, from Bien Hoa, Vietnam, weighing 177 pounds...Ly Quang Bao!

Bob Sinclair: Frankie, I've heard talk backstage that Bao is looking to head back to Japan after the season is over; as he's gotten several offers from the major puro feds.

Frankie Garnett: He'd be a fool to take them up on that offer...then again, he IS teaming with Phoenix in two weeks, so....

The instrumental-only version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" hits the arena to a mixed reaction as The League's lone female member emerges from backstage. There is a confident smirk on her face as she talks trash with some of the louder fans before sprinting into the ring by diving under the bottom rope. As she stands, she proceeds to the corner nearest the announce table, hands thrown in the air as the soaks in the crowd reaction.

SGRaaize (2-3) vs. Tarik Nolan (2-3)
(Fans' Pick: No favorite, 6 – 6)
A Portugesa hits the speakers to a rousing chorus of jeers as the Tron displays the national flag of Portugal. Emerging from the entryway, he turns to salute his homeland's flag before calmly walking to the ring, ignoring the fans as he slides into the ring and bounces off the ropes a couple of times to stretch.

Amelia Williams: Our next bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Torres Vedras, Portugal, weighing 231 pounds...SGRaaize!

Bob Sinclair: Raaize looking to build some more momentum here before heading to the tag tournament in two weeks, where he will be teaming with fellow lariat-user Nuclear Templeton.

Frankie Garnett: Wait, so we could see a stereo sandwich LARIATO~?!

Frankie Garnett: Oh, heck yes. Then I approve!

"Regulate" hits the speakers, immediately drawing the ire of the crowd as a large figure stands in the entryway, backlit by a clear spotlight. Pyro explodes on the stage, causing the light to shut off as the figure finally emerges onto the stage proper. Laughing at the boos hurled in his direction, he takes his time walking to the ring and subsequently entering it for his next match.

Frankie Garnett: I think we need to be more worried about Tarik there. That lariat nearly decapitated the man!

Bob Sinclair: In any event, that's clearly the match of the night so far; it's going to be hard to top that!

Maxx Skabb (3-2) vs. Johnny Triumph (2-3)
(Fans' Pick: Skabb, 11 – 1 (91.7%))
A remixed version of "Ecstasy of Gold" hits the speakers, which is nearly drowned out in jeers as he emerges from the entryway, a rain of golden sparks falling behind him as he walks to the ring with a confident look on his face. Instead of taking the steps closest to him, he walks around to the opposite side of the ring, drawing in more jeers as he finally climbs the steps and enters the ring.

Amelia Williams: This contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Des Moines, Iowa, weighing 228 pounds...Johnny Triumph!

Frankie Garnett: Now this, ladies and gentlemen, is a wrestler we can all support! He is the most technically gifted wrestler in The League today!

Bob Sinclair: And he also cheats like it's going out of style.

Frankie Garnett: Look, just because the axiom holds true doesn't mean he should ignore it.

Bob Sinclair: ...I'm gonna regret this, aren't I? What axiom?

Frankie Garnett: "Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat!"

Bob Sinclair: Yep, I had to ask....

Disturbed's "The Night" blares throughout the arena as spotlights begin to pan over the audience, as if looking for someone. A dim red light shines on the entryway, revealing a hulking figure making his way to ringside. As the refrain hits, the spotlights immediately focus on him as white strobe lights flash on the entrance stage. He slides under the bottom rope, his orange jumpsuit a stark contrast to most of the clothing in the audience as the song fades into silence.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from the Orange County Correctional Facility, weighing 289 pounds...Maxx Skabb!

Sebastian Moore (3-2) vs. El Demonio de Sangre (1-4)
(Fans' Pick: Moore, 8 – 4 (66.7%))
The beat of Danzig's "Am I Demon" hit the speakers as the lone luchador in The League emerges from backstage. His mask is obscured by the smoke billowing around him, and it is a blood-red spotlight that follows him to the ring as he hops over the top rope and waits impatiently for the carnage to begin.

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Tijuana, Mexico, weighing 142 pounds...he is El Demonio de Sangre!

Bob Sinclair: And here is another man who has a partner for the tournament in two weeks, Frankie. I just found out before we went on-air.

Frankie Garnett: How did you get sources, Bob? I'm the broadcast journalist of this place!

Bob Sinclair: Simple. I don't treat my sources like garbage. In any event, Demonio will be teaming with Thor Hammerskald, which should be quite interesting.

Frankie Garnett: What do you mean?

Bob Sinclair: I'll let Tori Montgomery fill in the blanks this Monday on Beyond Ringside.

It is to Muse's "Assassin" that he emerges, an arrogant smirk crossing his face as he soaks in the jeers of the crowd. Looking up at the spotlight for a moment, his smirk seems to get even bigger as he walks down the ramp, ignoring the catcalls of the crowd as he ascends the steps, wipes his feet on the apron, and steps through the ropes.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Manchester, England, weighing 237 pounds...Sebastian Moore!

Bob Sinclair: With Skabb losing not even five minutes ago, a Sebastian Moore win will propel him into the Beta Division lead.

Bob Sinclair: A first, ladies and gentlemen.

Robbie Maynard (2-3) vs. The Phoenix (5-0)
(Fans' Pick: Phoenix, 9 – 3 (75.0%))
Frankie Garnett: However, I've got plenty ready for this next match. It's time for the tub of lard to taste defeat once again at the hands of the Liverpudian Wrecking Machine!

Bob Sinclair: We'll see about that, Frankie. Let's get to the ring.

The opening riffs of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" hits the speakers, drawing a mixed reaction from the crowd as one of the League's initial playoff wrestlers emerges from the stage, bathed in a blue light shining beneath him. After pausing to mentally prepare himself, he walks to the ring, his eyes never leaving the squared circle as he climbs onto the apron and ducks between the ropes.

Amelia Williams: This is the first of our double main event, scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Liverpool, England, weighing 251 pounds...Robbie Maynard!

Frankie Garnett: Last season, Maynard made Phoenix tap like Fred Astaire. I'm looking for a repeat, and hopefully in far less time!

Bob Sinclair: The last time these two met, it was Match of the Night in Scotland last season. You know Maynard's looking for a repeat performance tonight.

The opening chords of "The Instinct" hit as the entryway is bathed in a fiery orange light. Twin pillars of flame erupt from the entrance stage, one per side, as The League's largest member walks to the ring. As he approaches the steps, he pauses, bowing his head for a few seconds before taking a deep breath and releasing a shout to the skies above as he climbs onto the apron and steps between the ropes.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from the End of Nowhere, weighing 337 pounds, one of the two undefeated men this season...this is The Phoenix!

Frankie Garnett: Say it while you can, Amelia! He loses tonight!

Bob Sinclair: Frankie, this is not the same Phoenix we saw last season. He looks far more composed and able to take a beating. I think he's got Maynard's number tonight.

Shawn Arrows (1-4) vs. Sean (5-0)
(Fans' Pick: Sean, 11 – 1 (91.7%))
The opening notes of Linkin Park's "Numb" hit as he emerges from backstage, casting his gaze over the largely jeering crowd before flipping them the bird and dashing down the entrance ramp, diving under the bottom rope and into the ring.

Amelia Williams: This is the second half of our double main event, scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Raleigh, North Carolina, weighing 212 pounds...Shawn Arrows!

Bob Sinclair: Arrows has gotten off to a real shaky start, coming in on a four-match losing streak ater winning his season opener.

Frankie Garnett: I don't see him having a chance tonight, Bob. His opponent's been that dominant so far.

Black Sabbath's classic "Iron Man" hits the arena speakers, as strobe lights begin to flash in the entryway. Fog rolls in from the entrance proper as a figure emerges, walking slowly to the ring and mentally preparing for what's ahead of him. He slides in under the bottom rope and walks over to one of the nearby turnbuckles, leaning up against them as the song fades.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Charlotte, North Carolina, weighing 230 pounds, he is the other undefeated man this season...Sean!
