BRAZILIAN PRESS CONFERENCE

Posted by Webmaster

A new Webisode bringing you exclusive highlights from Cayle Murray's pre-match press conference in Rio.

Earlier this week, Cayle Murray became one of the first Victory superstars to touch down in Rio de Janeiro ahead of the UTA’s Brazilian debut. Hand-picked by UTA brass to head-up one of the company’s first Brazilian press conferences, UTAWrestling.com camera’s caught-up with the rising Scotsman as he addressed the country’s media.

Here are some of the highlights.

ON HIS UTA CAREER THUS FAR…

“This is exactly where I want to be at this stage in my career, and I’m loving every minute. Just look at the roster: Sektor, Walker, Dane, Greer, Hopper… just rubbing shoulders with those guys is an honour, let alone competing with them. It’s up to me to keep working hard, keep pushing forward, and prove that I belong in the ring with guys like that, they’ll eat me alive if I don’t. Just signing my UTA contract was a career highlight in itself, and I can’t wait to make many more new memories.”

ON THE UTA FANBASE…

“People want someone to root for: someone to believe in and throw their support behind. I feel very privileged to have earned their trust – it’s not something I take for granted, and I work hard to maintain it every single day. I just want to give something back to them, because they’re definitely under-represented at the moment and they’ve been forced to sit and watch the guys in Dynasty lord over them like despots. These guys wouldn’t even have a platform if it wasn’t for the fans’ dollars, and I’m out to remind them of that.”

ON THE BRAZILIAN WRESTLING SCENE…

“It’s severely under-exposed. This is a huge combat sports country and it’s a shame that wrestling hasn’t really broken-out here like mixed martial arts has. I’m glad we’ve come here because the fans are borderline fanatic: they just need something big to latch onto. Hopefully the UTA can provide that spark.”

ON BEING DRAFTED TO VICTORY…

“I can’t lie, being drafted by the guy who booted me out of the Chamber match felt a little weird, but to be picked fifth overall is incredibly flattering. I couldn’t be happier with how things have panned-out. People still hold this weird ‘B-show’ stigma over Victory, but I don’t think any of us are worried about that. We’ve got some of the hungriest guys in the business in our ranks, and we’re all focused on putting-on the best show possible.”

ON HIS NEXT OPPONENT, MIKEY UNLIKEY…

“We obviously have our differences, but they guy’s now a proven success in two different vocations: no many people can say that. He earned his spot with hard work, respect and charisma, and it’s such a shame that he felt the need to cash-in on that when he tried to murder Will Haynes. When I joined the UTA I identified him as a guy who might stand beside me, but we’ve lost him… he’s gone. I don’t know if there’s a single respectable cell left in his body and I expect a tough, ugly fight at Victory, and if his pal LFB shows-up, so be it.”

ON COLTON THORPE…

“I really identify with the guy, because right now he’s in a place that I’ve visited many, many times before: only difference is I’d have probably found a way to get fired by now. He’s had a rough past, and he’s trying to lie, cheat and steal his way to the top, but you can only burn so many bridges before you’re stuck on an island, know what I mean? Whether I like it or not, he’s a threat and he’s making waves. I have to stop him: his behaviour is a blight on this company’s good name, and the lad seems dead-set on making my life as miserable as possible. We’ll be at each other’s throats for a while, I think.
